La Gelatessa

Through the power of TikTok, La Gelatessa, a Glasgow foodie gelato spot, has quickly gained a reputation as a go-to spot for authentic, handcrafted gelato. Situated in the southside, this Italian-inspired gem offers a variety of indulgent flavors that cater to both the adventurous and the classic dessert lover.

After seeing my For You Page inundated with La Gelatessa reviews, we decided it would be best to go at hopefully a quieter time. We went on a sunny mid-week afternoon and even then, had to wait our turn. We perused the menu, with reasonable prices we all decided to go for two scoops. I ended up going more classic with Bacio Bianco. With my friends opting for more exciting flavours such as, Lemon Ice Teas Sorbet, Mascarpone and Plum Ripple, and 2 scoops of Raspberry and Lime Sorbet.

Whilst waiting we got chatting to the exceptionally friendly staff, who explained that real authentic Italian gelato shouldn’t be displayed, hence all the gelato being stored away from eyesight in large silver containers. It seem's a bit uneducated of me to review gelato as I self-confessedly am not the biggest fan of it, but we can confidently say that this gelato was one of the nicest desserts I've had in town in a long time. Considering that 10/12 months of the year Glasgow is mostly miserable, La Gelatessa has also catered their menu to our colder climate. They have an entire hot chocolate menu, as well as offering deluxe hot chocolates with mallow fluff on top. All in all, if you're looking for a cold treat on a hot day, or let's be honest, in need of warming up from our rubbish weather, La Gelatessa should shoot straight to the top of your list.
